Speaker Series
CEC offers free programs on current issues that generate conversation and new ideas. Recent programs have explored how living connected to a place improves well-being, alternatives to artificial turf, environmental justice, wildlife in your backyard, native plant gardening and sustainability initiatives at San Francisco International Airport. Check our calendar for upcoming events.
Our 2026 Programs are described here.
Other Programs and Activities
In addition to programs, we feature activities of special interest, such as volunteering with professional gardeners at Filoli Estate, participating in hikes along San Francisco Bay, sharing information on the benefits of transitioning from gas to electricity in buildings, delivering surplus food to shelters, and participating in countywide efforts to improve energy efficiency and transportation. Come to our meetings and get involved.
We also sponsor a Terracycle Pen and Marker Collection Box to recycle pens and markers and keep them out of the landfill. Items accepted, working or not working, include markers and caps, pens, and mechanical pencils. Not accepted are wooden pencils, pencil leads, or erasers. The box is located at the Burlingame Main Library, first floor under the community bulletin board.
